Bliss loves being a part of the Sealy community!  If you are new to town, passing through, or just want to take a glimpse at a few of our favorite spots in town, keep reading!

See:

Stephen F. Austin State Park

Ok, so this amazingly beautiful park and setting for our first lookbook is technically in San Felipe.  But it is very close to our hearts and something we highly suggest you check out!

The Old Mattress Factory

Yes, Sealy is the home of the Sealy Mattress. The Haynes Mattress Company changed the name of the mattress to Sealy after our town, but they are not manufactured here anymore.  Luckily, the old Haynes Mattress factory survives today for visitors to see.  It is privately owned and serves as a workshop for a small leather design firm, but it is worth a drive by.

Main Street

Every town has one, but we are particularly partial to our own oak-lined, picturesque Main Street.

Sealy High School Football Game

If you remain incredulous about the degree to which small towns in Texas live and breathe high school football, let the kind folks in Sealy set you straight.  One of the first things I learned when I moved here in gradeschool was that Sealy High School was on a four year state-football winning streak.  That was the mid-nineties and we are still talking about it.  Oh, and we are the home of Hall of Fame Football player Eric Dickerson.  One of his cousins is currently on the team.  That's what you call a small town.

Do:

Fantasy of Lights

Every year in the first weekend of December, the entire town decorates for its annual Fantasy of Lights Festival! People from all over the state come to this annual Christmas celebration and we at Bliss esspecially look forward to downtown getting all dressed up for the holidays.  Everyone in town has childhood memories of the floats covered in lights for the nighttime parade through town and the fireworks show afterwards.  Don't miss the BBQ Cookoff, 5k Jingle Bell Fun Run, and home tour activities either.

Sealybration

There is nothing like Sealybrating at Sealybration!!!  Sealy just coundn't help using a little pun for this summertime staple: a concert and BBQ cookoff in the park!  Every year some of the best names in Texas county music come to town to put on a show for huge crowds.  This is a great time to grab some friends and a cold one for some small-town fun.

Eat:

Tony's

Tony's is like a living room for the locals.  Sure, the decor in this diner hasn't changed since the '70's, but that doesn't stop every organization in town from having its meetings here.  The Bliss favorite: order the Popular Special with a cup of joe.  This cheap breakfast is served all day and is in fact so popular it inspired the name of a Sealy High School garage band.  I may or may not still have a band T-Shirt.

Annie's

Annie is one Greek who can cook!!!  Every day we eagerly check our email for her daily special.  Specials we NEVER skip: Enchiladas Verde, Spagetti with Meat Sauce, and pretty much anything with fish.  Another favorite:  the Grecian Delight Sandwich. Yummmm.

Hinze's

Amazing BBQ right off the intersection of I-10 and Hwy 36.  This is the original location and it is so, so good.

Othie's

This is a HUGE sports bar and grill that shares a building and owner with our favorite antiques auction house.  We love coming here for a cold brew and live entertainment.  Sometimes we even get to sneek a preview the auction.  Thank goodness they don't serve beer while we are bidding!

Cazadores

Affectionately called "Cazzies" by the locals, this joint serves up TexMex in all its gooey, cheesy glory!  You can't beat the cheese enchiladas here.

Don't forget that any trip to Sealy should include a stop at Bliss!  Come say hello at 124 Main Street.
